Tips and Nutritional value (source: Joy Bauer & Healthline)

  • 1. Fun fact – a tomato is actually a fruit!! Tomatoes are a good source of many vitamins and antioxidants, including vitamin C and K, potassium and folate.
  • 2. Cucumbers are also actually a fruit! They are high in water and low in calories, which makes them ideal for weight loss. They also contain small amounts of vitamin K, which helps keep our bones healthy, and vitamin A, which helps with vision and our immune system. (source: Joy Bauer & Healthline)
  • 3. Extra-virgin olive oil is a main staple in the Mediterranean diet which has been proven to be a heart-healthy eating plan. Extra-virgin olive oil contains nutrients and antioxidants that help fight inflammation
  • 4. Another fun fact!! Olives are small fruits that are called drupes or stone fruits. They are related to mangoes, cherries, almonds, peaches and pistachios. Studies show olives are good for the heart and may protect against osteoporosis and cancer.
