Ingredients
2 Tbsp. of extra virgin olive oil
1 small yellow onion, diced ( we like vidalia onions)
4 cloves of garlic, minced
One 28 ounce can of crushed San Marzano tomatoes*
One 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
1 Tbsp. of tomato paste
1 tsp. of kosher salt, plus more to taste
1 tsp. of freshly ground pepper
1/4 cup of fresh basil, chopped

 - Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, garlic, basil, salt and pepper.
- Stir to combine and simmer uncovered over low heat for 1 hour.
Tips and Nutritional Value ( source: Healthline and joy Bauer)
- 1.  San Marzano tomatoes is our preferred type of tomatoes but you can use any type that is convenient to you. San Marzano tomatoes are known for their sweetness and and lower acidity.
- 2. Tomatoes contain high amounts of antioxidant lycopene, which has been linked to lowering the risk of cancer and heart disease. There are ongoing studies that suggest the lycopene in tomatoes also reduce inflammation.
- 3. Because lycopene reduces inflammation, it also prevents collagen breakdown which is the number one cause of wrinkles, and improves pigmentation and brown spots.
- 4. Add this sauce to your favorite pasta dish!!
